Pour Standards 2026!

Pour Standards has an amazing 2026 planned. If you are located in or around Staten Island and interested in homebrewing beer, mead or wine (or really just about anything that is fermented…) you should come join us at a meeting or two this year!

In 2026 Pour Standards is going back to basics so now is the perfect time to join/rejoin! We are going to be revisiting beer off flavors this year with a new off flavor every month starting as early as our February meeting. Who isn’t looking forward to sampling a beer that tastes of contamination, DMS, Diacetyl, Isovaleric Acid, Paper or H2S!? We also are planning meetings to discuss the basics of Water Chemistry, Hops, Malt and Yeast and are trying to schedule a few guest speakers along the way.

And don’t forget club challenges! We will be discussing our first club challenge at our January meeting and I already have something fun planned for February. We are also hoping to plan some cross club collaborations and/or challenges so watch out Handgrenades, Brewminaries and W.H.A.L.E.S!

Let’s talk about events! Pour Standards is already hard at work planning our annual charity event Brew for Autism that will be taking place March 7th. We have another beer bus tour planned for April; Mead Day on August 1st; the beer garden at the Staten Island Museum Fence Show on September 26th; Pourmania in late October or early November; Learn to Homebrew day in November; and our annual holiday party in December (date TBD). 2026 is going to be busy!

Pour Standards held our elections for new officers in November. The new/continuing officers are:

Matthew Cassidy - Social Media Officer

A special shout out to our outgoing President and Treasurer: Erin Sullivan and Cris Lombardo. Erin has served as president for the last three years and Cris has served as Treasurer since at least 2018 when I joined the club and probably for a year or two prior to that as well. Both of your hard work and dedication to this club is greatly appreciated!

Thanks to all for making 2025 so successful. I hope to see a lot of old and new faces in 2026!

Founded in 2012, Pour Standards has been at the forefront of the home brew revival in New York City.
